Making My Life Militant

Today has been productive, but not quite as productive as I would have liked. I wanted to make a lot of progress with my personal branding course. So far I’ve only managed to write about 4500 words, with my aim being at least 10,000. I’ll plan what’s left to write tonight and probably use my lunch break tomorrow to get in the first draft of an additional chapter in.

On the subject of lunch breaks. One of the things I did do today was plan my weekly schedule to the minute. Having a job typically means I don’t get as much personal stuff done. However, I’m hoping by scheduling time to go to the gym, cook and grocery shop, it’s going to help me to allocate my time more effectively. Making use of the 2-4 possible hours I’ll get a day to work on personal stuff or meet people.

I took a picture on my phone and turned it into a wallpaper for my laptop. The space to the right is for all the shit I fail to clean on my desktop.

Three chunks of chicken, some brown pasta, or rice. Peppers, mushrooms, green beans, spinach and 1 or two boiled eggs. Perfect low fat meals.

In the past I’ve experimented with hiring an assistant to work on tasks that take up a bit too much time. What I found was even when I tried to automate this process, I spent too long talking them through the task and it made the time save negligible.

Where I have found outsourcing to be incredibly effective however, is when working on slightly larger projects such as my video ident. I sent this project to an animator on Upwork with some visual refs and a description of what I wanted and for £25 it was created in less than a day. Had I done it myself it might have taken me a few hours to learn.

I’m also debating automating my wardrobe. It’s already all black, white and grey, but I still have to make a choice in the morning that wastes time. I might spend some time in central London working out an outfit that is optimally practical, but that also looks decent and then buy enough of that outfit to see me through the week. Then I’ll just use my other clothes for weekends. Sounds a bit extreme but it will save all the faf in the mornings.

Thats the end of today. Got a few more odd jobs left to do, then I'll read before bed.
