I'm Going To Jersey
Natasha left this morning so we chilled until she left at 11. I headed into central to work, which was an error because I spent most of my day on the bus.
I also ordered 100 ways to create a great ad by Tim Collins. I’ve had this book on my wish list for ages. I didn’t bother buying it because I wasn’t working in Ad land. Now that I’m back in the game, I thought I’d refresh my memory on the tried and tested strategies.
The plan was to compile a useful PDF of all the strategies inside for my freebies section of my blog. But I’ve always been tempted to create an advertising pocket guide. Basically condensing this book into something that people can slip in their bag or the back pocket of their moleskin sketchbook. I think that would be a great thing to have when you’re drawing a blank to get some ideas firing. I’ll run it past Ross on Monday to see if we can add it to the play board at work. If we can I’ll make it and sell it. If not, I might still do the freebie PDF.
Other than that, I got an essential piece online: 10 reasons why I can’t work on your project. This has come out of necessity due to the amount of people who keep emailing me to do favors for them. It’s got too much recently so I’m no longer doing work that I don't like doing. It does have some tips for creating good cheap logos and websites at the bottom.
I also spent a while working on a course I’m writing for Skillshare on personal branding. I’ve set myself this weekend to get 90% of the content written which means tomorrows journal is going to be a short.
Highlight of the day is myself and Natasha booked a getaway to Jersey at the end of August. Her friend Maria has recently got a job working as an airhostess and she’s managed to get us a return flight for £90! (Legend, thank you Maria X). Turns out that given enough notice airhostesses can get return flights to anywhere in Europe for around £40.... insane!
All that is left today is to go to the gym.
Days I've lasted giving up: Booze: 1 --- Coffee: 1 --- Sweet Stuff: 0
QUOTE OF THE DAY : Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down. – Oprah Winfrey
